Hello!
​I’m Ms. Derza the STEM Educator here at Mariano Azuela. This year is my 4th year teaching and I have been fortunate enough to teach 1st and 5th grades and now STEM. I graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2012. Throughout my education career, I have been trying to incorporate technology in all of my lessons. I believe that technology and engineering careers are the future of our students! This year I have been trying to expose our students to different future job possibilities such as working in Television, Computer Science, Manufacturing Fields and Chicago Stock Exchange! We have been working on Code.org and Engineering Design Process in grades K-5 and Design and Modeling and Automation and Robotics units in grades 6-8. On the weekends, I love going to different restaurants and explore our beautiful city. I also love to travel and I am excited for my upcoming wedding in California!
